Effective technique of undercuts is not only easy to execute, but very graceful, but the dynamic of fight doesn’t always allow this opportunity. You must have quick sight and feel your opponent to define this short time when the opponent can’t stand against the undercut. These skills can be developed only in sparing with partner when you work out the hits.
I have to admit that the undercut is very risky. There are the exact requirements at the execution: :
- You have to do the undercut as low as possible from the outside or from the back;
- The hit must be sharp to lift the heel of the opponent from the floor;
- Use the power of hips not only legs;
- If necessary you can push the opponent to unbalance him;
The cases when you have to use the undercut:
- The position of the opponent is not balanced and he can be unbalanced by the straight undercut, when you don’t need to deceive or wait for his mistake;
- The opponent gives rise to undercut ( you have to be very attentive, the rise to undercut may be a trap, after which the immediate attack will follow);
- At your attack when you deceive the opponent;
Let’s consider these cases:
Not stable position of the opponent.
The opponent loses the balance at the continual change of position and you can cut him down by the classical undercut like in Judo. You should move forward your back foot on the floor level to the front foot of your opponent and undercut it by hitting the out side of the tibia with your foot.
This kind of undercut is usually executed when the position of the opponent’s foot is wrong, otherwise there is risk to open your body and get the counterblow.
